Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is a combination drug used for the treatment of a number of infections caused by bacteria. Being allergic to either of the active ingredients Bactrim contains is a contraindication as you are likely to have the same reaction again. Some of the conditions you have may prevent you from taking this drug. These include asthma, kidney or liver disease, AIDS, malnourishment, folic acid deficiency and some others. Your health care provider will ask you about any other diseases you have ever been diagnosed with to make sure you are not harmed by the treatment.
